ProjectE & EMC¶
Added in version 0.10.
Most Create machines and all LV GTCEu machines can be transmuted to and from EMC via ProjectE to allow focusing more on building factories in the early game than rushing to and from a crafting table. EMC is meant to be relatively easy to acquire with a bit of automation work put in. Unlike most other modpacks, EMC loops are a feature!
Power Flowers¶
A maximum size Mk1 power flower.¶
The classical power flowers are an inexpensive way of passively acquiring EMC. Only the first two tiers of collectors are available, for a maximum of 12 EMC per second per collector. The name “power flower” refers to a configuration of EMC collectors where as many collectors as possible are touching a side of an Energy Condenser, either directly or indirectly via an antimatter relay. Collectors require some form of light, with sunlight (light level 15) being the best and tapering off as the light level decreases.
The maximum number of collectors available for a single power flower is seventeen (two layers of one, two layers of four, one layer of seven.) The middle layer has to miss a relay to allow the condenser to be accessible, and the bottom five collectors will only generate half as much EMC because they are not in direct sunlight. Collector tiers can be mixed together in the same power flower.
An optimal Mk1 power flower will generate 58 EMC per second, and an optimal Mk2 power flower will generate 174 EMC per second.
Using EMC¶
Power flowers require an item in the condenser slot (the top left slot) of the energy condenser to convert from EMC to an item. This item can be manually dumped into your transmutation table to be turned into machinery manually. The best items for this are low EMC items such as glowstone dust so that you do not have to wait an hour for the collectors to collect enough EMC.
Note
The transmutation table cannot be interacted with via automation in any form. If you wish to transmute things automatically, you need to use collectors, relays, and the condenser chest instead.
Manufacturing EMC¶
Even the Mk 2 power flowers are relatively slow; 174 EMC a second would still take over six minutes to condense a single LV machine in addition to costing a decent amount of resources. Exploiting EMC loops can shorten this time dramatically and scales up easier than power flowers. There’s a few options available for EMC loops:
Windmill sail frames require one andesite alloy (4096 EMC) and one wool (48 EMC), but produce two sails (8192 EMC) for a net profit of 12240 EMC per cycle. This requires a wood farm for the sticks, which is easy to obtain.
Encased chain drives (65536 EMC) require one andesite alloy (4096 EMC) and three iron nuggets, which is a 61140 EMC profit. This isn’t passively automatable until you have iron production, but one stack of iron ingots can produce a stack of chain drives, netting 11_796_480 EMC in total per stack of ingots.
Rotation speed controllers can be transmuted into a whopping 262_144 EMC, at the cost of requiring precision mechanisms.
